NO WORD FOR ART: The Role of Beauty in Indigenous Psychology (TM)

May 12-14, 2017
Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, Muir Beach, California
Offered by Dr. Leslie Gray

This 2 1/2 day (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon) experiential seminar will focus on the creation and use of ritual items and power objects for personal development and/or shamanic counseling.

Deeper training in a retreat setting! This intensive will allow for a deeper and more thorough understanding of the application of indigenous techniques in modern settings. Class time will cover:

  • Expanded journey techniques: becoming adept at transversing the realms
  • Preparation of the healer and the healing space: evoking a healer's trance
  • Preparation of the client/patient: evoking a client's trance
  • Path from the visionary to the materialized
  • Inclusion of sight, sound, aroma, and touch in the healing process
  • Shamanic imagery for change and transformation
  • Creating objects in light trance
  • Ritual movement and creativity

Our exploration of the ancient roots of creativity will take place at a serene and beautiful zen center nestled in a green coastal valley between Sausalito and Stinson Beach just north of San Francisco. Laced with traditional Japanese rock gardens, and surrounded by hundreds of acres of National Parkland, Green Gulch is a 20-minute walk to the Pacific ocean. The surrounding hills offer miles of trails up and down the coast and into nearby Muir Woods National Monument. Lunch will be served from the famous Green Gulch organic garden. Workshop participants are welcome to join the monastery residents for early morning meditation (optional). The quiet atmosphere of Green Gulch is ideal for both visionary inspiration and creative work.

Free on-site chair massages will be available outside of class time on a first come first served basis.

The workshop is open to all!

Sign-in for the workshop is on Friday after lunch between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. (Lunch will be available in the Green Gulch dining room from 12:15 to 1:30.)  The workshop ends at 4:30 PM on Sunday.
